I was born in Cuba in 1970. My father was Cuban and my mother was of Irish origin. I began drawing, painting and sculpting when I was very young, in spite of my father’s objections. I really felt the need to do it. |
|
By the time I was 19, after spending two years abroad and experiencing a difficult re-entry once back in Cuba, I decided to embark on a self taught way of art. I am a self taught artist and I claim this title as confirmation of my freedom. |

When I was 21, I taught painting and drawing to children. After many years of teaching I worked for the government and as a freelance artist. This contributed to my ability to manage a gallery in Santiago whose goals involved promoting Cuban culture.
I taught Art History and Creative Design at the University of l’Oriente.

I don’t know where my painting come from; forms develop, colors stand out. At night, I am woken up from my dreams. My mind can’t be at rest until I transmit what I saw and what I felt. |
|
I believe each painting has its own character, its own message. Usually, I don’t do any studies or drawings before painting; it’s why my works are original works are original works and they often have no thematic relation between them. |

In this creation, I grow alongside my work. I constantly try to transcend myself, to go as far I can, forgetting everything I’ve learnt, seen or heard. |

 |
The main goal is the achievement, irregardless of the technique or tools you may use.
